It's not a terrible movie, but it just isn't that good. And I actually like Kevin James. But he's better when he can play off his comedic talent. This movie is mostly a straight-up action movie and it doesn't do anything particularly well so it's hard to recommend when there are so many other excellent movies in the genre.
The performance of the actors is sufficient, but it feels like no one was given much to work with and even an actor, like Guzman that can shine when he has the chance, just comes off dull and a flat.
I'd watch it hungover on a Sunday because it won't challenge you, and if you fall asleep you won't care, but there are better movies to spend your time on.

This is the first Alien franchise movie since Aliens that really gave me that chilly vibe the first two movies did.
It captures the essence of the environmental storytelling perfectly. We have a mix of analogue CRT screens, buzzing transformers and clicking relays, alongside synthetic humans, FTL travel and space colonies.
We have brutal and heartless corporations that all but enslave people in the hunt for profit.
And we have all the staples, from David to Weyland-Yutani over experiments with things best left alone.
While the movie does have YA-related beats it doesn't become as family-friendly as Mazerunner and the like. On the contrary, we have quite disturbing themes relating to sex, birth and deviance that I'm sure Giger would be quite trilled with.
Pacing was good, the movie never seemed to get bogged down and it spent the runtime well, lingering when appropriate, but not wallowing.
In total, I haven't seen a better Alien movie in a some time, and while we didn't get drastic new elements like with Prometheus, I felt like this was a movie more true to the original duet, and with more authentic and enjoyable DNA.

This is not a movie everyone is going to like. In fact, you'll love it or hate it. It's crass, stupid, absurd, nonsensical, devoid of story or message - and yet, it's just a funny movie to watch with friends of like mind and a few drinks.
It's literally PACKED with Hollywood talent - every great actor or comedian you can think of has a part. That's what lifts it up IMO. You have talented, A-list actors doing to most offensive and dumb sketches you can think of, and somehow it comes together as some sort of weird, trippy compilation of Comedy Central and MTV, back when it was actually cool and edgy.
If the first 10 minutes don't grab you - the rest won't either. But if you like that, it's just more of it.
