  • An excellent movie.

We really enjoyed this film. I'd read reviews prior to going to the cinema, that said it was dark and depressing. I saw absolutely nothing 'dark and depressing' in this film. Because something is set in a third world country or in a 'civilization' that differs from one's own day-to- day existence, it is not necessarily depressing. As this film showed us, many of the poorest people are very happy in their lives.

The 'pro' critics were somewhat brutal as well with this film, and some publications and critics who were very 'Hollywood-based'. It appears that they have a problem with intelligent films that are made outside of the Hollywood machine.

It is thought provoking and it makes you examine your own life, which really is good for EVERYONE.

  • Toback - blech

I gave it this rating simply because of Toback. He is a known gambling addict. Why would anyone give this man a penny? He's also a drug addict and recently chose to bash Robert Downey Jr. for getting himself straight and for having a strong marriage. The man is sleazy and it's truly amazing that any quality people would have much to do with him. He's had no 'hits' in what? 22 years?

This man is not able to truly direct anything. He's just looking for a party and money for his latest gamble, and those who hang with him are tarnishing their own image, IMHO.

The entire premise of this film is sketchy at least. They truly conned all of the actresses and actors involved in this thing.

  • One of the worst movies EVER. Anything with Zach Galifianakis is a

monstrous waste of time. At least Cheech and Chong made stoners somewhat comical. This guy is just a boring far-too-real stoner type in everything he does. Can you say fat, disgusting and not the least bit funny? The movie is a waste of Robert Downey Jr's considerable talents. I suggest you all run!! Run, run, run, fast and far. It's a waste of your time and if you paid anything, it's a waste of your money. And please.....boycott anything with Zach Galifianakis. He's a horrible actor, and plays the same brainless, boring character, over and over again.

Downey's character isn't as strong as it should be. He's a brilliant actor and this was not the least bit challenging for his talents. And Galifianakis? What a waste of oxygen!!! He can't act, he can't play anything but a weedhead, and he has zero comedic timing. I mean, he keeps playing the same brain-dead character over-and-over again. Pretty friggin' sad.
