Slumber is a really good movie. Is it great? Is it excellent? Not really. It's probably not something I will ever watch again. But I was thoroughly entertained and didn't feel like I wasted any time watching it.
It has good acting, good direction, good cinematography, good music, good special effects, good editing and above all a really good script with good characters and a story that was worth telling.
What else can I say really? It might not be destined to become a classic of the genre. People probably aren't gonna watch this one every year at Halloween time. But it's a quality film that is worth the time to experience it once and definitely deserves a higher rating than it currently has here.

"Saul Goodman tries to sell a haunted house" is the most concise way I can describe this movie. If that sounds good to you, I would suggest you will really enjoy this film!
A pleasant surprise and way better than I expected (having picked this movie pretty much at random) from start to finish. A few gags might fall a little flat here or there but, for the most part, when it's funny it's actually really really funny. And when it's scary I actually found it significantly more unnerving that many "straight" modern horror films. Most modern horror/comedies usually feel to me like wannabe Seth Rogen movies with wacky horror elements mixed in. The writer and director here had a unique vision that breaks the mold and they actually pulled it off, making an extremely watchable movie that never (at least for me) felt like a chore to watch. That's really all I can say. I enjoyed this movie from start to finish, I think it deserves a higher rating than it currently has, and I hope it will stand the test of time and grow in popularity.

At about the 30 minute mark I thought I had really discovered a gem but it quickly falls apart as the writer simply isn't able to keep things interesting after that point. What a shame because it really was a great set up. Unfortunately though as soon as the stage is set it quickly devolves to phoned-in "I'm a pretentious serial killer" dialogue and everything the female character says is pretty generic too... a missed opportunity to explore unique characters in a very tense situations. Then add some fantastical creature stuff and its just a hell of a mess by the end.
I don't know about you but I would much prefer to watch a BAD movie that I can poke fun at than a good movie that falls flat on its face. Those are the ones that really hurt.
