An excellent film depicting a horrible part of New Zealand's history. One issue I had is the sound quality. I found it very difficult to understand what the cast were saying and the version I was watching didn't have subtitles.
Poor acting, dreadful script. The acting and particularly the dialogue is less than convincing. We don't even know the rank of the main police characters and we know from a sign on the wall they work in the even less inspiring title of "investigation department". The criminal family is even less believable. The "crime family" set up is almost laughable as is the lack of dark language and swear words. Even after being promoted to a member of the organisation one of the main characters continues in his role of washing the dishes. The sets are bland and empty with little character or atmosphere. Given the decent acting abilities of many of the cast and the fact this was a heavily advertised C4 drama, I was more than dissatisfied with the series. When you compare it to the German drama 4 Blocks or the French cop serial Engrenages, this series only scrapes a 2 star and that's only because I am feeling generous. Avoid unless desperate for a crime drama to watch.
