As a Vietnam era veteran I could not wait to see this series. After viewing 1/2 hour of episode 1, I turned it off. Just terrible. The acting, the actors, it had nothing to do with war. I felt there should have been scenes that depicted a military camp or soldiers. It just didn't make sense to me. What was it about? Maybe I'm getting too old but I just couldn't follow the scenes or the actors. What they said made no sense to me. I expected a lot more from the individuals that put this together. The whole Vietnam era is very touchy with americans. I thought this would be made with A Touch of Class.
Robert Downeys makeup was a joke. The other reviewers loved it. I will watch it one more time. But I don't think it's going to get any better.

This is a ridiculous movie. It features 3, B list actors who could never resemble pilots. I cannot believe this film cost $125 million dollars. It's a joke. It's a waste of time. The concept and execution make very little sense. The only reason I gave it two stars is because you can see Jessica Biel in a bathing suit. And how did the producers spend $125 million making this film? It seems to me that most of it was done digitally. The four Jets that are the stars of the movies don't have enough Wing area to actually fly. A few years ago the movie Midway was produced for about $100 million. And it was 10 times better than this movie. And it was made with actors with very little name recognition.
I did enjoy the movie and had to watch it more than once. A few things did bother me. Why did this man's son speak with a bit of a Mexican dialect? Why did this man leave his Resort in a boat with no supplies? Not even water. He did not even bring a cell phone. Being a novice why did he pilot his small outboard boat away from land? Why wasn't he even concerned about where he was?
I was also confused about his wealth. When he first met the Pirates on the beach he told them $40,000 was all he had. And then it turns out he's got 189,000. And how could a bank in the Caribbean transfer his money from an American account so quickly?
If I were him when the pirates originally brought him back to the island I would have contacted the police and Coast guard. I would have used some of my $180,000 to hire a helicopter or an airplane or a large boat. Those are the things that bothered me.
