A team of the very best. De Niro, Costner, Connery, Garcia even Drago and all. Strange, yet there is an element of elusiveness and the fear of the chase permeating. The key characters never ever all meet. Brian de Palma is a master at manipulating a jigsaw that flows with the prohibited alcohol. Combined with a glorious Morricone score and ultimate in script, lighting, scenery or casting, it's brilliant. Only one woman has any influence - that is Ness's wife in the shadows of the greed, testosterone, ego and lust for power.
Connery is superb throwing the shackles of slick Bond into the Chicago garbage. The scene at the railway station is a classic. Watch the baby, who is the book keeper ? So many questions.

Immediately the atmosphere draws one in. So low key and the absolute reverse to US bish bosh firework films. It's understated and Hardy's music embellishes and massages the film. A great score.
Diligent Toby Jones as teacher Burton is matched by the vulnerable Harry Lawtey as Richard Burton. The character development is paced and perfect with Richard's voice lowering as the film grows pace. Great sets and wonderful to see my Welsh heritage given a spotlight. Fantastic but one suspects that many younger viewers will feel a lot is missing ? No guns, CGI, explosive percussion sections with sweeping strings, or rumours of excruciating egos. Loved it !

Hard as nails, vulnerable, over the edge, charismatic yet not charming. A fantastic performance with great vocals, Rosalie Craig slumps supreme against great actors Lorraine Ashbourne, Joanna Scanlon et all.
The script and character development is first rate. Fast and unpredictable, it is bonkers to be bored with Sally Braithwaite's writing and it is impossible to predict where the script is going.
Songs are pretty catchy, the band a bit scratchy but it's the real thing ! The talent contest almost descended into a modern version of Phoenix Nights.
However, the series also deals with several mega serious issues. It highlights how far we still have to go to crush misogyny.... Joining a rock band is the easy part. A great watch and a lovely listen ! Rock on.
