At last, the darkly funny, disturbing play comes to the bug screen. And who better to direct it then the master of mixing darkness with innocence, Tim Burton! And of course Johnny Depp is one of the few who could pull this role off with his own eccentric twists. Not to mention a wonderful performance by Helena! You may not enjoy this if you are easily disturbed or faint at the sight of blood (then you'll be sent to the emergency room should you watch this all the way through). The feel of the movie was perfect, and since when does Johnny Depp sing? Since this movie was made! Not only does he and Helena sing, but they sing very well, and do they ever know how to harmonize! Despite the fact that Perill is the guy from Borat, he does a great job! And of course the evil judge simply must be played by the same man who was Snape! Though I wouldn't suggest watching this with small children, or if you cant take violence, its still a really, really, really great film. Oh, and you may not want to eat pie while watching this.
What happens when Johnny Depp plays a pirate? Genius! Not only was his character charming, funny, witty, and incredibly entertaining, but it really made the film. Besides him, POTC will take you on an adventure that I can promise you will enjoy. The feel of the film is light hearted and is at times, very funny. Many consider this to be a movie just for kids, not so. From the moment the film starts it is absolutely captivating. Defanatley worth your time. The plot will not bore you, and the film is all around, fun. As one of the makers of Pirates said, "you can't go wrong with Geoffry Rush and Johnny Depp", and he was right. Of course its unrealistic, and it romanticizes piracy, but its fantasy. If your a free spirited person I think this film will fit you well. It deserves to be called a classic, and though Disney has swayed toward the cheesy side of things lately, this movie isn't at all. So go out and see this movie, savvy?
