This film should be called The Holy Family vs Raiders of the Lost Ark. Too much liberty has been taken with the story of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St Joseph.
The only notable part was Sir Anthony Hopkins's portrayal of King Harod but even that stellar performance was not enough to save this film.
Whereas wheeled wagons existed at that time, the vehicles in this movie were ahead of their time, and St. Joseph as a carpenter would not have been able to afford one, let alone a horse.
The portrayals of St. Joachim and St, Ann were pious enough, but their story was made up out of whole cloth.
The depiction of a violent St. Joseph is just wrong headed.
This story would have been more accurate had it been based on Blessed Mary of Agreda's volumes of City of God. There is nothing inspiring about this film.

Very slow script. Good monsters but we don't see enough of them.
General Delaney has no rank insignia, and is wearing enlisted collar brass. Also he is wearing Viet Nam era ribbons which are displayed upside down. One ribbon appears to be a USMC Good Conduct medal ribbon, which would never be worn by an officer, let alone an Army officer. A military consultant would have only set them back about an hundred bucks.
Having said that, it's passable if you can wade through all the drama.

The acting in this movie is good, although it is a bit hard to follow the script. There is a second half to come on this, which should be showcased at the end of this film so that the viewers will know part 2 is coming, but is not.
The female lead is compelling and believable.
I suspect budget may be the reason that the whole movie has yet to be produced. I think it has potential and hope the second part is made to solve the riddles posed in the first half.
