From the very first episode Lost in Space has been quite intriguing. However Maxwell Jenkins's performance as what one may call the lead, has been wrought with struggle to appear convincing and instead comes off as forced, self-conscious and rather cheesy. In an industry that has an increasing number of incredible child-actors, this seems to be an oversight the show really should not have indulged. This, coupled with the show's writing concentrating way too much on inconsequential events and story arcs perhaps as a feeble attempt to create tension, is quickly turning a show fans eagerly awaited and may well have been hailed a sci-fi classic, into one we're increasingly eager to forget.
I won't say this movie was terrible, but it was really quite disappointing. The first Guardians of the Galaxy I remember I'd absolutely enjoyed. It was funny, witty, well scripted - it was all pieced together very well. While the sequel did have its good moments, it seemed to want to ride on the first film's coattails; rather than make an effort to be a great movie on it's own. Grut's character especially seemed overdone and a bit forced on this one. This franchise really deserves a better sequel. They were off to a great start and it's disappointing and even slightly annoying that they would follow that with such a lukewarm attempt at a sequel.
That rating (5.7 when i checked) just doesn't make sense. There really should be some way to keep the ratings more fair and accurate.
I'm a big fan of thriller/horror movies and I can assure you that this is miles better than most of the overrated crap that's being churned out every year. It is good even without comparing it to films in its own genre.
I really enjoyed watching this film. It wasn't perfect in every way but it was honestly different and intriguing enough. You reach a certain point in this movie when you'd think "That's it? Another clichéd ending?". But then you realize you've just watched the first quarter of the film. This films takes the story beyond where other films of its kind normally take. And it does so quite entertainingly.
The acting was done well throughout. All characters were portrayed well by their actors. I recommended this film to a bunch of people and everyone I heard from since has liked it. So is this film perfect? Is it brilliant? No. I won't go that far. But it is entertaining, clever and absolutely worth watching.
