  • A seriously unexpected pleasure.

I stumbled across this quite accidentally and I am glad I did! I didn't know such a 'genre' of stage production even existed. I am quite shocked by the very low rating for I can't justify it.

Dealing with the universal subject of marriage breakdown, I felt the play was well scripted with the balance of humour and serious subject well struck for a comedic theatre production. You will not find answers to your relationship issues here and the play does not attempt to provide them. The biblical references made from time to time were funny in their application and reflect very accurately the stereotypical backgrounds of the African - American characters. Every character had his/her own charm and the soundtrack is lovely. All in all, I would happily watch this again.

  • Fantastically unique!

I just had to write a short review. Rann tries successfully to show how the media can become a PR tool, wittingly/unwittingly, in the hands of those who seek only self gain. Rather than reporting news, the media is creating news.

Rann tells it's story very convincingly and had me gripped from about 10mins in till the very end. Most of the actors (main and supporting) portrayed their characters very well; there isn't a main 'hero' as such. The actor who plays Jay didn't quite do the role justice; it lacked conviction. Ritiesh Deshmukh gives the most mature performance I've seen of him so far.

What sticks with me is how far desire for wealth and power will take people; it took Jay much further than he foresaw. For serious story telling Rann is a most see.

  • A Classic in the making. Shabash!

Where do I start?! This is the best film out of Bollywood since Parineeta (2005) in the period drama genre. An absolute gem! I couldn't wait for its subtitled release in the Uk and so I watched it without subtitles and even then I am blown away!

The film scores high points in all the categories. Hrithik and Ash are fast becoming the Kajol and SRK of the 2000s. Their chemistry is fantastic, and Ash really seems her best in period dramas. No one else could play Akbar other than Hrithik. In the 2 weeks I have had this film i have watched it no less than 7 times. Its 3.5hr length doesn't even cross my mind as I don't even notice time passing. The film captures all your attention from start to the credits at the end. I understand more and more of the dialogue after each watch and I can not wait till I get a copy with English subtitles.

The story is fantastic and very well delivered. The supporting cast is so strong; no one lets the side down. The songs in the film are all I listen. Everything is just as it should be. This has gone straight to No. 1 on my favourite/must have list.
