Based on "50 Brilliant Science Fiction Movies That Everyone Should See At Least Once" by io9. I haven't seen all those and disagree on a few picks. I picked more than one movie from a franchise when the movies were different enough and of significant quality. 

50 Science Fiction Movies Everyone Should See

The best science fiction movie for the year, in my opinion, with runner up. I am excluding superhero films, even though many are based in science fiction. I'm only including movies I have seen.

Best Science Fiction Movies from the Last 20 Years

Clint Eastwood, Donald Sutherland, Telly Savalas, and Don Rickles in Kelly's Heroes (1970)

I am an avid horror fan and wish to share all the titles I have in my horror movie collection. Not all are great but many are and many more are good. Several are considered part comedy/part action or science fiction. One or two are not listed as horror but if it has ghosts and is scary what else could it be?

Some of these just fell flat for me on viewing, even more so than others that I would consider worse overall on second viewing (like Darkness Falls, but that had some jump scares in its favor) others I thought were just terrible or profoundly dumb.

As a lifelong horror fan this is my pick of some of the best horror out there. Not a huge list as I'm interested in quality over quantity. Not necessarily in any order either.
