I love the entire franchise, even the infamous two latest installments, bit this is ridiculous. I gave up after nearly falling asleep during episode 3. The creature is painfully forced onto us from the very start of the show, zero suspense, zero finesse. They shouldn't even have shown it on episode one. The narrative is wrong from the start, given the rush to show us the creature, zero Fs were given to character building or even letting us know what the hell was going on in that ship. Pathetic. By episode 3 we vaguely know Wendy and her brother, all the other robot-kids are meat for the grinder and they unfortunately don't die soon enough. This is a sad excuse for a tv show, let alone an Alien one. And don't even get me started on the musical choices. Tool on episode one? Metallica's Wherever I May Roam on episode 3? Are we idiots? How these songs remotely connect to the alien/sci-fi universe vibe is beyond me, and these choices can only be justified by Disney's desire to appeal to a low IQ millennial audience. I am 41 and was appalled by the level incompetence. What a train wreck. I should have cancelled Disney right after the Kimmel situation but kept it to give this show a go. Not worth it. Cancelling now.
It's been a while since I watched a good enough slasher, and this one was worth it, for the original premise and its execution in general. The characters aren't exactly "deep" but at least they don't do dumb stuff, and I didn't feel like there were any major plot holes. Actually the movie is so short that you can't really feel cheated by their lack of depth. The acting is pretty decent. The plot keeps you interested, with a lot of suspense and the right amount of gore. The final reveal makes you wonder if you'd do the same under those circumstances... So this adds a bit of reflection to the movie, unlike what you expect from the typical slasher. I'd definitely give this one a chance if you have an hour to spare.
