The film started well with some good action filmed in mainly closeups which I found a bit distracting but the action was solid on clearly a low budget. The action did get a little repetitive with the family getting repeatedly caught.
The Owen and Piers this is a nice easy action flick for them and they both looked like they took this film seriously but were having fun at the same time.
This was all ruined by the Brosnan diatribe about how it's the West's fault that this country was having a coup because the cooperations were exploiting these countries and the leaders of these countries were to stupid to realise this was happening. The billionaire leaders who take massive kickbacks from the cooperations and the implication that these countries had no corruption until evil white people turned up.
This is pure and simple racism of bigotry of low expectations, that none white people have no agency and are all victims and that the rebels were justified in their murdering and raping spree. A usual leftwing narrative.
A film for lefties to self flagellate. Themselves on.

I saw this in 1987 as an 11 year old with a few friends for my birthday. So this film is very vivid for me. Its the only film I remember going to see.
I loved it as a kid and still love it to this day, another Mel Brooks home run with his cheesy, corny and cringe comedy in a film that does not take itself to seriously in any way.
I just love the parody of Star Wars that was a little adult in some places but plenty of slapstick for the kids.
It was this film that awakened me to Mel Brooks and his great list of films but it was a few years before a saw Blazing Saddles for obvious reasons.
Take your kids to watch it. You wont regret it.
It says on IMDB that the film wasn't released until December in the UK but I saw this film in September, bit of an error.
