I don't know where to start, when I first played this game I was about 11 or 12 years old and even then I remember not liking it to much. Being a fan of the first Metal Gear this game was taken in quite a different direction. I really am not too sure about the game's story due to the fact i couldn't get past the first area. The controls were awkward and the game was just flat out hard. Though the graphics for the time weren't that bad at, all much better then the original Metal Gear. Later I did read up on the story and it was a decent idea that did stay true to the original but the game play was what ruined it for me. If you are a fan of the series I would suggest giving it a shot but don't expect to much this was not very fun and was removed to the series time line.

My first impressions of the game was that it was quite hard for a 8 year old to play let alone understand. Though I did play it quite often and it became one of my favorite games, but I never fully understood what was going on in the game mostly due to the fact that the NES version was a port. The game was originally released on the MSX. This version of the game was by far superior to the ported NES version. It wasn't till the game was re-released bundled with Metal Gear Solid 3 that I fully was able to enjoy the game. Metal Gear was much like the later ones in this long running series. Jam-packed with story and real world issues as well as running away from foes and hiding under boxes. Good game over all and I would suggest it to anyone who enjoys this series.
