Don't get the low ratings for this movie at all. A much more measured performance by Eddie Murphy with a strong supporting cast and the always wonderful Kerry Washington. There is an interesting storyline with some comedy moments (although I would hesitate to call this a comedy) The ending is obvious but the movie is no worse for that. Is unlikely to be a movie you would watch multiple times but you are left thinking that maybe we should spend more time just enjoying the world around us and the people we share it with rather than chasing the unrealistic lifestyle sold to us on a daily basis...I would recommend it.
A good story line that is held together well by the two big stars (who clearly like each other and work well together). Their chemistry raises this movie, as is to be expected, and the support cast are solid. The movie is far from perfect and has some moments that frustrate and annoy in equal measure but it is well paced and has some genuinely funny sections. The soundtrack, all pre 2000, is excellent and fits brilliantly. Whilst it does not hit the heights of previous movies to star two heavyweight actors (Newman and Redford for example) it does showcase Pitt and Clooney well and if a sequel were to be made I would happily watch it.
