This is a slick and entertaining drama with a very well paced story, through the lens of two controlling women in a man's life. Throughout the series you can pretty much guess most of the outcomes, although there are some nice little twists and turns.
Olivia Cooke plays her role magnificently and its worth watching just for her amazing outfits. I feel they missed a trick and could've made this a dark comedy drama, as there were situations between the mother and son that the girlfriend picked up on, which could've been comedic.
What let's this show down is the penultimate scene in the final episode.....no spoilers. Watch for yourself as it doesn't completely ruin the experience, but it does make you think they could've written it better and the ending would still have the same impact.

This show is colourful with bags of energy, but ultimately the jokes have been done a thousand times - to better effect - and it's just not that funny.
Some scenes stretch out for what feels like an eternity and you wonder if they kept the cameras rolling until someone in production laughed and then yelled cut.
The only characters with potential are the cousin and her boyfriend whose interactions are amusing, but still not comical enough to call this a successful comedy.
The saving grace is that each episode is less than 25 minutes, so you don't waste too much time deciding if it's worth continuing through the series. I gave up at episode 6.

Netflix has done it again and made a carbon copy of Alpha Males.
First they tried a French remake, which didn't hit the mark and now they're trying a Dutch version.
If you haven't heard of Alpha Males, its a Spanish comedy about 4 men in their 40s, struggling with modern masculinity. They explore a seminar that aims to teach them how to better themselves. Roosters is a remake, set in the Netherlands rather than Madrid and would potentially be good on its own merit, but having seen Alpha Males, Roosters is not worth watching.
Search for Alpha Males - its funnier, lighter, more engaging and the characters are likeable.
