Americanish made me laugh out loud. It is so relatable. Having grown up in different countries and finally becoming my own person in the US, I related to both the sisters. I remember the exact day when I decided to remove my hijab. In my professional life, I've had to bite my tongue many times, so I fully relate to Sam. The mother daughter relationship was so well portrayed. As heavy as all these topics were, it was phenomenal that Americanish made me laugh so hard. Muslim women are not monolithic. We are multifaceted and Americanish did a great job portraying that.
Absolutely love everything about this movie. It's hilarious, the acting is amazing, the music is so upbeat and the story is so heartwarming.
Yeah, the accent and accuracy of the culture isn't accurate but it's not meant to be. It's meant to be satirical and it totally accomplishes that!
Also, Jaja Ding Dong LOL!

Ayushman and Jitendre was pretty truthful in their acting. The dad was extremely annoying and I hated the unnecessary amount of time they spent on their family drama. It added nothing to the main story. I don't get it why the sister's story was even in the movie. It didn't even have an ending. It was a significant story but with absolutely no closure. There are so many better ways to show that the society doesn't accept gays.
