We general public peoples don't know what these kind of situations are like unless we were are a soldier inside a situation like this for real.
This film is an attempt to let us experience an urban war zone in a contemporary setting, as if we were there, in the room with them. It succeeds.
Both with quiet moments and deadly moments, the suspense does not cease via outstanding crafting of acting, image and sound.
The bottom line for me was the pointlessness of armed conflict, something which goes beyond the immediate concerns of the characters within this story. The smoke clears and life has circled back to before. The suffering for what?
Don't enter a war and then you wont get hurt. Don't react, don't attack. Will we humans ever learn?

The core is satisfying comedy more than any other genre. I've watched it numerous times when I feel like a giggle, plus a pinch of all the other emotions one feels in most films.
The movie is as unscientifically sound as can be. This generates some of the humor. It's like Snuffleupagus and Big Bird interacting. It is that silly, jovial and preposterous.
Other aspects which make it so watchable are the writing and casting of archetypical characters, extras and character behaviours, which makes for easy, no effort digestion.
Other items of note are good sets, good sci-fi technology design, visual effects, some whales, and cool creative imaginings of the inner earth.
