Mini series creeps, a family of weaklings, starting with Ma Janine who is a jem down to Nicki who is about as bright as a rock... stories are dull... you have smoking, meetings, back stabbing, fighting, screwing, robing, cheating, coke snorting, surfing, pot smoking, apple pie, drinking, stealing, arguing, partying, killing, etc...... oh, and then there's, smoking, meetings, back stabbing, fighting, screwing, robing, cheating, coke snorting surfing, pot smoking, apple pie, drinking, stealing, arguing, partying, killing, etc...... watchable, but lots of reasons to pause and do something else, pretty crappy.
As it surely tells a story of the American oil business, probably all American big business, this series, so far it's classic TS... seems like he's on a roll at his writing, and gets called away, only to return to say, "ok, where was I"... It's (good) at best, has its strong moments, then drifts off into a scene of a pick up driving down the hiway for twenty seconds and we have to hear some dorky country tune play... there's some strong character performances, and some, dear god hit the mute button ones (daughter and x-wife)... seems we have been flooded with TS works, I do get perked up when a new one is advertised, I admit... but, I also am prepared for some anticipated disappointment... his gold jewel in my opinion is "1883", a jem, I'm a fan of westerns, so I may be biased, but others loved it toooo... So, I will definitely continue watching this one, looking for the good stuff, and hoping not to cringe much when the "where was I" parts dredge up...
Spooky, provocative, exposes the human spirit... the characters are just like us, they could have been anyone of us, the three step plan, simple, easy, effective..... very thought provoking, very frightening, and very true.... look how we are, Merry Christmas, Happy Birthday, oh I love you!, then we are cursing someone out for parking where you wanted...this movie was a story about who we are as a people.... watch out for those dang Tesla's, they're out to get ya, and the deer, well, deer will be deer... will we take notice?, sure, but do nothing about how we are, the birds, and the deer know... Will we know?, hmmmmm....
