I am a girl who loves movies more than anything! Movies are my life! I like Sci-Fi, Classics, Adventure, and non-raunchy Comedies. My favorite actor is Harrison Ford and my favorite actress is Ingrid Bergman. Can't wait to see a million more movies I haven't seen!

  • HinoSenshi's Review of An Excellent Time-Waster.....With A Little Sex Thrown In!

Holy Cow! I watched "Solomon and Sheba" the other day on TCM, and I totally LOVED it! It is very Biblically inaccurate (there was NOTHING between Solomon and the queen of Sheba, just a conversation!), but a lot of fun!

Yul Brynner is one of my favorite actors to watch on screen; he is sexy, charismatic, over the top, and has that whacked out ambiguous accent. His ability to believably play just about any nationality and role is very evident in his role as the Hebrew king in this film; even though he seems a little out of place. I wonder why they chose him to replace Tyrone Power? Is it just me, or did he never smile in this or any other movie? Sexy!!!!!

Gina Lollobrigia is waaaaaaaaaay hot in this movie! As the erotically inclined, temptress queen, she heats up the screen and blows everyone else out of the water! She and Brynner look very good together, and their love scenes are some of the HOTTEST I've seen in a 50's movie (especially the incredible steamy one at the pagan orgy-WOW!)! Gina has Vulcan eyebrows! I've never seen her in anything else, but I hope I can! She's as va-va-voom as Sophia Loren!

Other than these two hot actors, everybody else in the movie SUCKS. George Sanders is like a dull imitation of a villain-yawn! I got bored with the overlong battle scenes, most of which had no Historical basis at all! Errrrrggh!

Overall, I give "Solomon and Sheba" an 8 out of 10, it should be a 6 but the sexiness and eroticism of the love story brings it up to an 8. If you like pointless epics with some sexuality thrown in, then I definitely recommend this movie to you. It is a great way to waste a boring afternoon alone!

  • HinoSenshi's Review of The ULTIMATE Musical Film!

WOW X10!!!!!!! I just discovered this film the other day when I took a chance and checked out the soundtrack from my local library; it took my breath away! Not knowing what I was getting into, I then checked out the film itself and I was hooked! My mother saw the 1943 Claude Rains version, and that was the only exposure I had ever had to "The Phantom of the Opera", I was surprised to see what was different in this one than the one my mom told me about.

I have never seen a musical film as powerful as this one in my entire 19 years of life! The singing was awesome, the acting excellent, the sets spectacular, and the music jaw-droppingly perfect! I have never seen the stage show, but I will someday!

I liked Butler's characterization as the Phantom; his voice was perfect, but I felt no pity for the Phantom; was I supposed to? Rossum was lovely, but her voice is too high! Wilson was annoying!!!!!

Overall, I recommend this film to anyone who loves musicals or horror/love stories! This is a great film, and the next time I go to MovieStop I am sooooo buying it! Trust me, people, HinoSenshi guarantees you will love it!!!!!

  • HinoSenshi's Review of "The Three Faces of Eve"!

WOW! WOW!And again WOW! I thought this was an awesome film! It vividly portrays the way a person with Multiple Personality Disorder feels and acts. Joanne Woodward is well deserving of her Oscar!

Is it REALLY that easy to slip in and out of different personalities as this movie makes it seem? I am really interested in MPD now and plan on reading the book as well as renting that famous other film about multiple personalities, "Sybil" and re-watching that, too!

The weirdest thing in this film was watching Lee J. Cobb acting like a normal guy. In "On the Waterfront" and "12 Angry Men" he is much better; I think the role of a belligerent meanie is better for him. In this film he was just blah!

My only complaint is that the DVD of the copy I watched was screwed up and sometimes would freeze and then skip up to 10 seconds, resuming again as before. Thus, I missed some stuff! Wahhhhh! One more thing: Why do some people call Multiple Personality Disorder something else: "Dissociative Identity Disorder"? Is that an older name for it or just a weirdo's version of the disorder's name? HinoSenshi would REALLY like to know!
