scarecrow72's rating
I suffered through the first season because someone else wanted to watch it. I have no idea what anyone sees in this show or why it is rated so highly. This series is very dreary. No one **EVER** smiles, and all the characters seem to be unhappy with their lives.
If watching a soap opera about stuffy English aristocracy is your thing, then you might enjoy it. If you want a show with substance, and characters that don't seem like they hate their lives, then avoid it all costs.
*Maybe* the costuming is great, but since I don't care about fashion, what do I know? It is certainly not a reason to make the show worth watching.

I'd never heard of the books, but watched because it was highly rated. It seemed like the Twilight movies (of which I only watched the first one and didn't like) but with vampires and witches instead of vampires and werewolves. I gave it chance, and somehow suffered through the first four episodes.
Dreary atmosphere throughout the episodes. No one ever smiles or seems to be enjoying themselves, even when making love. Poor acting and lousy special effects. There is no chemistry between the "stars" of a vampire and a witch. They seem more like distant acquaintances than lovers.
If you liked the Twilight series, then you might like this, otherwise, don't bother.
