The movie is not bad at all. It is pretty well made and I like the scenes showing the vacant towns, etc. The zombies are standard. The actors all play their part well enough - the only thing is none of them are especially likeable including the main character so you're are just watching to see where it goes and how it ends. I almost didn't care if the main guy dies or not though. It does fill 2 hours fairly well and I don't regret watching it so if there is a part 2 I would watch it too though I would never pay money to see it. That's about all I have to say about the movie so this last sentence is just filler.
This movie likely sets a record for the dumbest collection of kids ever cast in a feature film. The movie itself is actually not awful. With a plot that is somewhat believable and apparently based on a true story. The acting is generally bad but I've seen worse. Stahl and Renfro are convincing enough but most of the rest are rather bad. There's quite a lot of sex which is surprising given they are all teenagers. What is sad is that you can actually believe there is a group of kids this dumb somewhere on the planet. It really makes you question ever wanting to have children... further it makes you wonder how teenagers can ever actually become productive adults.
Burton really couldn't have done a much better sequel. This one was done very tastefully... not trying to modernize but instead throwing back to the original with various plot points and still having an interesting story. Keaton nailed Beetlejuice again - it's as if he just wrapped up the first movie because you can't even tell the difference. O'Hara is quite good. Ryder is good as Lydia, can't believe how good she looks still. Ortega is basically the perfect casting choice for the next gen. All the supporting staff are solid. Fans of the original will all appreciate this one. Costumes, sets and effects are excellent too. Go watch it in theatres because there's just not as many good movies out these days!
