This movie is a perfect example of how perfect marketing, extraordinary advertisement, and a legendary trailer can create a bigger hype for any movie literally.

The movie itself is not bad, if you watch it without any expectations, you may actually enjoy it. But the moment you position the movie as the best horror of the decade, along with watching it's trailer, then you will get your biggest disappointment of the decade.

In a nutshell, everything about the movie is top notch except for the story which neither delivers nor achieves any satisfaction.

The movie marks a perfect start and a bad ending.

If you still believe that movie ratings are accurate, just watch this movie and you will see how misleading they become.

An enthralling thriller brimming with unexpected twists and turns that would likely both perplex and impress Hitchcock. The film has a very classical, almost vintage feel, frequently and respectfully nodding to the master of horror.

The narrative seamlessly oscillates between Film Noir and a more conventional modern thriller. 'The Body' centers on the disappearance of a woman's corpse from the morgue. The woman's husband quickly becomes the prime suspect in her murder and the body theft. Summoned to aid in the investigation, he faces intense interrogations led by an unusually shady Commissar with a mysterious past.

The movie skillfully interlaces hearings with flashbacks of the couple's life. Set on a typically stormy night inside the morgue, the setting couldn't be more eerie and claustrophobic. The film expertly manipulates the viewer, guiding them precisely where it wants. The script is exceptionally well-crafted; although minor inconsistencies can be found, they are easily overlooked in the midst of suspense and following the given clues. Directed by Oriol Paulo, who two years prior co-wrote the excellent 'Julia's Eyes' with Belen Rueda starring as Julia, in 'The Body' she delivers a compelling performance as the unlikeable deceased, Mayka. All roles are well-cast, with the Commissar frequently toeing the line of caricature but ultimately achieving a successful balance.

While the climactic unveiling in the final scene feels slightly forced and leaves some questions unanswered, this retention of mystery adds an intriguing edge. Despite concluding with some didactic explanations, the journey there is wonderfully bewildering and intensely thrilling, leaving me eager for more films from Oriol Paulo in the future.

In my view, 'Fallen' ranks among the finest supernatural thrillers Hollywood has produced in recent decades. It's intellectually engaging, polished, and well-performed - not driven by exploitation or excessive gore, but rather operates on a cerebral level.

Denzel Washington and John Goodman excel as New York City cops who come to suspect that a demon is behind a series of murders - the same demon that previously possessed a serial killer executed at the beginning of the film.

As Washington delves deeper into the investigation, he discovers that the demon can transfer from person to person, creating a chilling scene where it rapidly moves among pedestrians. Although this might sound absurd, the manner in which it is portrayed makes it compelling. The conclusion is startling, and Nicholas Kazan's script ('Reversal of Fortune,' 'Bicentennial Man') provides solid dialogue. If atmospheric thrillers appeal to you, this film is worth watching.
