When I heard a Linley reboot was on its way I got excited. I discovered the original show fairly recently and absolutely loved it. The quaint backgrounds, the comedic duo with romantic undertones, the amazing guest stars (Henry Cavill, James McAvoy!). Truth is the early 2000s were a golden age for British crime dramas. Here we can't fault the cast, the new duo could have been great but they can't save the poor writing, the lack of atmosphere. "Linley", just like the way they turned the title into one word, is dreadfully minimalistic with its lack of originality, its drab and sad storytelling. A slog of murder mystery, depressing and self serious where nothing stands out. This is so by-the-numbers and banal you could replace the leads with any past or current detectives.
Please, try a bit of originality, a bit of fun, a bit of humor, I promise it won't hurt.

Proof that an excellent and fun concept is not enough if you have a bad script. This is a very cool idea that could have been a great movie in better hands. Love Kyle Gallner who always delivers and makes the best out of the clunky dialogues. The direction is passable and basic but the story takes a deep dive half way through with massive plot holes and ridiculous twists. If only they kept it a little more realistic and made the villlain less dumb, it would have worked. Anyway will watch anything with that actor, he's got that old school 70s 80s charisma.
Welcome to the spin of we were all waiting for: Team America: Dark Wolf.
The whole US cast look like they cloned Chris Hemsworth in various shape and size, oh they even have a real Hemsworth brother! Two weeks sandy blond beard are a requisite in the army, then you get your weapon and camos and are ready to shoot anything that speaks Arabic. This is borderline Durka Durkadistan comedy (iykyk).
I don't mind patriotic porn, it can be fun entertainment and I actually enjoyed the original Terminal List. But this is exhaustingly first degree jarhead propaganda. It's well made, Chris Pratt -hate it or love it- is always on point, and has massive production values. But sometimes you want a bit of light and less self seriousness, World is grim enough. I'll wait for Reacher season 4 I guess.
