I love DIP but I don't like when protocols get ignored. DI Parker was arrested on SUSPICION of murder - innocent until proven guilty. He'd also have been interviewed by someone of a higher rank. That aside, this was a great episode. The investigating officer was so blinkered that we could guess the outcome. Jaye Griffiths is very good, as always, and as for Sophie... 😲😲😲😲. Good to see the Commissioner on Neville's side for once although it's no surprise that the team rallies behind him. As an expert at unravelling the most twisted plots, DI Parker is an ideal candidate to set one but he wouldn't drop himself in it. Did he get sloppy in his frustrated and angry state of mind or has he been set up as he, and the team, thinks? Great episode.
Much like many others, I feel that instead of gentle comedy woven into the stories, the writers seem to think that means descending into pantomime slapstick. Also, Agatha's quirks have become aggressive, entitled and downright nasty, not how the character was written. It makes it difficult to like her, again not what was written. Her wardrobe is, however, fabulous - I want everything that's in it plus the shoes. 😂😂 The sooner the writers get changed back to producing scripts more in line with series 1, the better it will be for everyone. Love the burgeoning relationship between Toni & Sgt. Wong and glad James is out of the picture. Let's see how this develops.
Oh dear! I don't often review programmes but I felt compelled to do so for this one. Was this directed by a first year student at a Community College??? In 14 seasons, it's the most amateurish episode I've seen. Even Aidan Quinn was poor and looked seriously rough which was a huge disappointment . As for the first scenes in the "Sober House" the acting wasn't good so I guess it was in keeping with the direction. I should look for something positive but I'm struggling. Maybe Jamie & Eddie renewing their vows at the Reagan family dinner? That was sweet. I hope the rest of the final season is better than this.
