I realise that fims have to make money but this tries to cover every conceivable stereotype.
It's a great shame as the true story of Operation Pedestal .is almost beyond belief.
There are various bits of Boys Own action but they are not enough to carry an entire film. It seemed as though the middle of the film actually lagged a bit and then remembered what it was trying to do. It then picked itself up, rather like an arthirtic steam train, and rattled along at a resonable pace towards the final denouement.
The Actors did a resonable job and the script was quite fun but it's a shame that the subject wasn't treated in a better manner.

Just watched the colour version and it's absolutely delightful I had never seen it before and the Kodak stock gave a beautiful result
When one compares it to the garish results of Technicolor which followed... It seems that Jacques Tati filmed in both B&W and Colour but that the film labs were nor able to process the colour stock at the time.
There were certainly items in the colour version that I didn't remember from the B&W version

With the best will in the world, this is one of the worst films I have ever had the misfortune to sit through It was so utterly predictable that it was painful
The characters were stereotyped and the acting, if it can be called that, was wooden
I often wonder how some films ever get made. Who raises the finance for things like this? I'm sure that must be more worthy scripts out there just waiting for a bit of cash.
If you like touchy-feely, feel good films then this is for you. I might have liked this when I was younger but being both old and cynical, I found it ghastly
