I wasn't sure whether to give this 10 stars because it didn't "excel" in any outstanding way, but I don't really have any complaints. It was beautiful, and technically perfect.
I knew nothing about this film going into it, and I think that's exactly how you need to approach it to appreciate its themes and very personal mood.
I only watched this movie because I really enjoyed watching Florence Pugh in Midsommar and Don't Worry Darling, and saw that she was in this recent film.
The narrative doesn't exactly break new ground, have innovative storytelling techniques, or any other gimmicks, because it doesn't need to or want to. I think the film success in its simplicity, because of its simplicity.
The film is self contained, straightforward narrative told beautifully.
The cinematography is similarly subtle but professionally performed, with gorgeous colour pallets without detracting from its realism or immersion.
It is beautiful by its own standard and succeeds at what it is trying to achieve. It was perfect by the criteria you would judge this film.

Out of all of the years that I had attended the 24-hour Shoot Out in Geelong, this is by far the most memorable film that I had seen. The story was absolutely adorable, was beautifully shot and actually had me considering it to this day. It may be one of the reasons that I have decided to follow film as a career. To have been watching Jarrah Gurries other short films recently, it is incredible and inspiring to find that this film was done by him. He is definitely one of my new favorite directors; right up there with Gregg Araki.
I suggest watching this film knowing the restrictions of the film competition - the film was to be done entirely in-camera on tape (with only linear editing allowed), written, shot and handed-in within 24-hours.
