Typical "bad cop" trying to do good after he gets out of prison plot, which wasn't too bad. The writing/dialogue was pitiful, though. There were scenes that seemed like they were added later, as they didn't seem like they had anything to do with the plot line of the movie. Not sure who the giant MMA fighter was, but it seemed like someone owed him a favor and put him in the movie and I'd bet my net worth it was his first acting role. Lastly, they tried to make it a comedy and failed miserably. I like Wahlberg movies, generally, so I made it through to the end, but he can't be proud of how this turned out.
It was an average dialogue driven spy film that kept me waiting for a big climax and it may have been the most disappointing ending that I can ever remember seeing. I suppose it was attempting to have us question our societal ethics vs mass killing and terrorism, but all I could think about was how unfulfilled I felt and how I'd never get those two hours back. It could have been a pretty good movie, but it drove off a cliff.
If I finish a movie I give a 3 star minimum. This is one of the worst movies I have finished. There was just enough decent FX and mediocre acting to keep me watching, though admittedly over three separate days. I would not recommend this under any circumstances, unless you were wanting to torture someone.
