I admit that initially I really hated this series. I found the older. Stephen to be totally annoying on screen as a personality. To be fair, that's just me, and I got past it.
It also takes a while to discover just where the narrative is going. The relationships are vague in the beginning. It will help you to know (and this is not a spolier) that you are traveling around time at first. That's not altogether made clear. (A simple chron saying the year would have helped).
But, soon we discover the depth of those relationships; which are very deep and fraught with secrets. I think in other hands this story might have been rather poor. I think the reason for the obfuscation of time and long, drawn-out plot is because the story is rather simple. Therefore, we're just witnessing the path to the inevitable which is apparent in Episode 2 or 3? Not too much is unexpected.
But, the acting is superior, and that makes this thing move along well enough. As we judge the tension and the choices made in plot and character, the subtleties of proper British manners are apparent and make the whole thing like watching at show at the National.
Well, done, mates. Thank you.

First off, I'm going to say that there are moments in this movie when you will ask yourself "when are we going to get to the point? Because it takes its time getting from scene to scene. At times it felt more like a documentary where we had to know every detail. Maybe that was the idea. Because we get right inside the heads of these characters. There's a character who gets kicked in the face and we see his wound develop from the initial moment to a full blown serious injury with complications. We watch the thing develop. We watch as one character who hardly ever speaks fall in love. We rarely cut away. Finally, Mikey Madison is hard to take your eyes off, and her acting is Oscar quality.
Go see it.
Go see it.
The premise: the United States will be first to the moon and they'll get there even if they have to lie. And so our protagonist who is a practiced liar is enlisted to create a set and put the moon landing on camera on a just-in-case sound stage. What can ruin such a plan? The most obvious answer is shown in the first few minutes of the film. Not entirely creative and even for the sixties a pretty easy joke. You'll have to watch to see what I mean.
The journey of our protagonist lead played by Scarlett Johansson is pretty straight forward. Were lead astray that maybe the boy is not her goal, but it is. And the girl is his. Ho hum. We already know that the rocket will fly. We just aren't sure if the secret plan will remain a secret. It seems pretty obvious it will. So we're not here for that. We're here for love. That's fine.
It's well done, well acted, and well, it's over and everyone gets paid. Lots of easy to see jokes. Another review I saw suggested it was written by A. I. I can see how they got there. Not that bad though. $20 to rent so make sure you have multiple people to see it to get your moneys worth.
