One of my favorite movies of all time!
When it came out in theaters, it was a family affair for us: my wife, daughter, and I saw it I don't know how many times!
I owned it on DVD, then blu-ray, and now 4K.
I know some people don't digest that mixture of fantasy and realism, but it's all a matter of opinion and individual taste.
Those of you who have not seen it, don't judge it by negative reviews. See it and then make up your mind. I have recommended it to many people I know, and they simply didn't like it.
Like the saying goes: "to each its own".

This is the worst movie I've seen in a long, long time. What is very hard for me to understand is how an actor like Stephen Lang decided to be part of it.
The movie is slow, very slow...and boring.
When I finally saw where it was going, it was too late. At least I was able to rescue some minutes of my life by fast-forwarding it until the very end.
It's one of those movies where nothing is what it seems, and then they apparently decided to patch an ending that goes nowhere.
I can't find any redeeming qualities to it. Maybe Stephen Lang's acting. But it is not enough. A movie so BAD doesn't deserve any stars.
Run for your life, and watch something else!

This movie is loosely based on the film "The Hypnotist" (Hynotisoren) from 2012, and starring Mikael Pernsbrant. Much better film. It's a thriller, it has mystery, and in my opinion, a much better plot. Skip this one and try to watch The Hypnotist.
The original is way more interesting, moves at a faster pace, and it doesn't try to be so "artistic". Everything is more clear, for lack of a better word. Explanations about what happened make sense, and it has a better resolution.
On top of that, it was directed by Swedish director Lasse Hallstrom, so you know the quality is going to be superior.
