After hearing a lot of positive word of mouth, I decided to take my kids to watch this movie, hoping they would learn something about our spiritual culture. But to my utter disappointment, this movie doesn't even match the quality of TV shows we see on cartoon channels. I couldn't bear to watch those 360p-quality animations on a big screen. Had I known it was this mediocre, I wouldn't have watched it even on TV-let alone in a theatre.
Now, coming to the main reason I strongly urge everyone not to show this to their kids: the entire film is filled with noise, shouting, anger, and violence. I would personally rate it as suitable only for viewers aged 15 and above. My kids, aged 6 and 9, got so frustrated with the noise that they almost fell asleep-thankfully.
I don't blame the makers for this mediocrity, but rather the audience that made it a big hit. It just shows how much we lack discernment-AI-generated videos today are far better rendered than the animations in this movie. Forget the animation-even the basic screenplay and dialogues are so poorly done that I couldn't bear to sit through two hours, which honestly felt like twenty. The entire second half is just one sacrifice after another, testing the limits of your patience.
If you truly care about Lord Narasimha, you're better off watching Bhakta Prahlada (1967).

It was like a dream movie in my childhood. We didn't have the luxury of watching our favorite movies during my school days around 1996-2000. We could only watch whatever was available on TV, often at friends' homes who had cable connections with channels like ETV and Gemini. We could only watch this movie if it aired on any channel. Whenever this movie aired, those times felt dreamlike.
Gunnam Gangaraju is an amazing director, on par with our generation's Tier-1 directors like SSR. Every dialogue in this movie is spot on. The acting of the children, not to mention Kota Sir and Brahmi, is next level. Yesterday, when we watched this movie again, my wife cried almost 4-5 times. I hope the makers of this movie release a 4K version so I can re-watch it again and again, even after 30 years. I am sure no movie like this will ever come out of TFI.
Finally, I want to thank Gunnam Gangaraju Sir for making my childhood memorable with movies like this.
