I must agree with the majority of the reviews on here in that "Gimme, Gimme, Gimme" is absolutely over the top in its vulgarity, foul language and general crudeness ............. but it is SO funny! Both leads are just perfect - Kathy Burke in particular. I am especially fond of her numerous references to "Mummy". The very accomplished actress who plays Beryl adds much to every episode she appears in, quite unlike her marvellous Contessa de Faraglione in Mapp and Lucia.
However, I found the supposedly funny neighbours, Jez and Suze, to be stupidly irritating and an unnecessary addition to an otherwise excellent cast.

I'm obviously in the minority, but I think this really should have been kept for topping the bill on Comic Relief. The scenery is gorgeous - and that's it. The acting leaves much to be desired, very village am-dram, especially the usually excellent Anna Chancellor channeling her inner Lady Bracknell, her 'niece' totally overdoing the giddy teenager and the over posh acting of 'Lady Drummond West.' In general, it reminds me of 'Acorn Antiques', but it's actually (although unintentionally) funnier. Victoria Wood and Julie Walters would be right at home in this cardboard hotel. But fear not, it ticks the diversity boxes very nicely if not accurately.
