The horror genre thrives on audience anticipation-people willingly step into theaters seeking to be unsettled, shocked, and thrilled. Yet, in recent years, very few films have managed to truly terrify or offer something inventive. Zach Cregger's Weapons attempts to break that lull, presenting a horror-thriller that is as mysterious as it is unsettling.
Headlined by Josh Brolin, Julia Garner, Austin Abrams, Kerry Condon, and Toby Huss, the film benefits greatly from its strong ensemble cast. The story kicks off with a chilling hook: at exactly 2:17 a.m., all but one student from a class disappear without a trace.
