  • well-crafted thriller that lingers

The horror genre thrives on audience anticipation-people willingly step into theaters seeking to be unsettled, shocked, and thrilled. Yet, in recent years, very few films have managed to truly terrify or offer something inventive. Zach Cregger's Weapons attempts to break that lull, presenting a horror-thriller that is as mysterious as it is unsettling.

Headlined by Josh Brolin, Julia Garner, Austin Abrams, Kerry Condon, and Toby Huss, the film benefits greatly from its strong ensemble cast. The story kicks off with a chilling hook: at exactly 2:17 a.m., all but one student from a class disappear without a trace. What follows is a relentless exploration into the unknown-where did they go, and why? The premise may sound straightforward, but Cregger layers it with eerie atmosphere, subtle psychological tension, and a steady sense of dread that builds toward unsettling revelations.

Visually, the film is striking-cinematography captures shadow and silence as effectively as the sudden jolts of horror. The score amplifies tension without becoming intrusive. While some sequences lean more toward mystery than pure fright, the overall package works as a gripping genre piece.

Commercially, Weapons has already exceeded expectations with staggering global collections, but its real victory lies in re-energizing modern horror. It proves that with the right mix of mystery, performance, and atmosphere, the genre can still feel fresh.

  • Sivakarthikeyan roars, Murugadoss strikes back

    A. R. Murugadoss is back, and this time he strikes with Madrasii-a high-voltage action entertainer that brings Sivakarthikeyan in top form. After years of waiting, fans finally get a film that reminds us of Murugadoss's trademark style, packed with thrilling moments and stylish presentation.

Sivakarthikeyan is the heart of Madrasii. His screen presence, sharp character design, and unbeatable comic timing light up the film. He carries the story effortlessly, proving once again why audiences love him. The first half is gripping with a powerful interval bang, while the second half erupts with adrenaline-filled action, keeping viewers hooked despite the thin storyline.

Rukmini Vasanth shines on screen, adding charm and elegance. The villains-Vidyut Jammwal and Shabbir-deliver electrifying performances, while Biju Menon as the NIA officer adds class and depth. Technically, the film is rich: cinematography is stunning, action blocks are superbly staged, and production values scream grandeur. The songs may not hit the mark, but the background score fuels the action.

With Madrasii, Murugadoss shows he still has the spark. It's not flawless, but it's a stylish, mass-packed entertainer that rides on Sivakarthikeyan's star power.

  • Baaghi 4 Review: High on Action, Low on Story

Baaghi 4 The Baaghi franchise has always positioned itself as an adrenaline-fueled action saga, banking on high-octane sequences and star charisma to draw audiences. With Baaghi 4, the makers once again attempt to blend intense action with emotional drama. Unfortunately, while the film succeeds sporadically in the first half, its second half derails into an incoherent mix of commercial clichés, undermining the potential of the franchise.

The First Half - Engaging Action & Drama

The opening act is where Baaghi 4 shines the brightest. The action choreography is gripping, the pacing is energetic, and the emotional undertones, though familiar, manage to hold attention. These elements, combined with the film's franchise appeal and the lead actor's presence, make the first half a decent cinematic experience for action lovers.

The Second Half - Songs, Melodrama & Chaos

The narrative nosedives post-interval. Instead of building on the momentum, the film shifts gears into exaggerated melodrama, unnecessary song placements, and logic-defying action. Cars fly, characters survive impossible odds, and the story feels stitched together from unrelated sequences. The result is a disjointed cinematic experience that feels more like a music video compilation than a coherent movie.

    Storytelling & Originality

While the film appears inspired by the Tamil movie *Anithu Anithu Anithu 555*, it alters certain plotlines to accommodate action set-pieces. Sadly, the writing never rises above a surface-level narrative. Weak dialogues, inconsistent character motivations, and a lack of emotional depth expose the film's script shortcomings.

    Cultural Responsibility & Audience Impact

Cinema has a powerful subconscious influence on society, especially on younger audiences. Baaghi 4 unfortunately leans heavily into unnecessary violence, mindless spectacle, and hollow emotional beats. This raises broader questions about the responsibility of mainstream cinema: is it enough to entertain, or must it also respect the intelligence and well-being of its audience? Critics of Bollywood argue that such content risks normalizing a culture of violence and escapism, while neglecting meaningful storytelling.

Performances The cast, particularly the lead actor, delivers with sincerity and energy. The problem lies not with the actors but with a direction and script that fail to provide them with substantial material to elevate. Even the best performances cannot rescue weak writing.

    Final Verdict

Baaghi 4 is a film of two halves: the first promises thrills, the second disappoints with chaos. For die-hard fans of the franchise or lovers of spectacle-driven action, there may be fleeting moments of satisfaction. For those seeking coherent storytelling, meaningful drama, or lasting cinematic value, this movie falls flat.
