  • Nice film , leaves you happy

Cary Grant had a tough young life in Bristol so maybe some of this films story reminded him. Pity the version I saw was not the full 80 minutes it would have been better to judge rather than this 61 minute version which seems a bit rushed at the end when regrettably Mary Brian forgot her English accent and it became a bit 'stagy' - a pity because the supporting actors did a good job I thought. Cary Grant was capable of good dramatic rolls though rarely got them and in this film he wasn't able to show his ability enough. I'm glad; however this film was made in England rather than America as it did add something to the authenticity of the few exteriors and general atmosphere of the story.

  • You missed the stars name from the cast!

Whilst going to lengths about who might play Guy Gibson in a possible re-make - and where would they get 11 Lancaster bombers ??? You actually missed off the name of Richard Todd who played Guy Gibson in this all time classic. It's known that the character of Guy Gibson was improved and made more attractive by Richard Todd's particular approach to the role. It would be hard to better his casting. Any sort of re-make would fail as these 1950's war films so easily captured the recent past, today even the phrases and terms used would be wrong.

Richard Todd, now in his 80's lives in Lincolnshire in England. Why he never got a knighthood for this and many other great parts God alone knows.
