Here it is 8 years after the series ended and I have been re-watching it. What a delight. I am a fan of Eric McCormack and enjoyed him in "Travelers" as well as "Will and Grace". I wish "Perception" had run longer. The cast was perfect. I never felt the show hit any false notes, behavior, or story points. It's funny, touching, interesting - a show you can sink into and binge. Oh, gawd, I have 181 more words to write. Fortunately, this show has not aged. It's still relevant. Oh, as a special bonus, it also stars Levar Burton as Eric's boss and humor ensues. So, looking for an entertaining show of quality that's humorous, comfortable and interesting? Then binge of this delight.
I hemmed and hawed about watching this show. Big mistake. Once I started I was hooked. This is one of the top shows ever streamed and if you don't watch, you're losing out. Natasha Lyonne was excellent in OITNB and she continues to be excellent in Poker Face. She's likeable, funny, sweet and fearless. She's also charming. I found all the stories to be compelling in this series. Her character gets along with every one until she discovers a murder. As other reviewers have said she's kind of like Colombo and keeps coming back to ask questions. Her BS meter is always running. It's fun to watch her listen to someone who has just lied and she pops back, "bulls**t. Don't pass this one up!!
I started out with a good vibe on this movie because I like Neal McDonough and Tommy Flanagan. However, that good vibe dissipated pretty quickly. Why? One reason - the actress playing Catherine. So bad. Her character comes across as naive and is all over the board. When you think she'd shut up and not antagonize the bad guys, she opens her mouth and makes it worse. No common sense. And she only gets worse as the show goes on. I don't know how much I should blame the actress, a poor script, a lousy director or a crappy budget. Probably a little of each. I'm an hour in and I feel the urge to turn the movie off, yet, on the other hand, I think I should watch it to the end out of morbid curiosity. I wouldn't recommend this movie, no matter how much you like Neal and Tommy.
