I've loved Trek since a kid in the 60's. Watched it all including the spinoffs (excluding lower decks) and even including all episodes of Discovery which while tough going was mostly watchable. Heard this was bad but sat down to watch it anyway; thinking it would be a Discovery type show as it features one of that shows main characters. But it wasn't. It was Discovery's mutated evil twin featuring a cast more intent on how they look than any sort of decent plot. Even I could not watch this one and I've sat through some real crap Sci-Fi in my time. The amount of cringe in this is just off the scale and I was genuinely worried someone might see me sitting there viewing such rubbish. Someone mentioned the Federation at the start but I think that is where any Trekkieness both began and finished. Try watching a short amount just to see how bad it is.
I pretty much lived for classic Who as a kid in the 60-70's. The later reboot with Ecclestone was a new style and was generally very good with added humour and some modern views like the more assertive girl Rose, the fun Mikey and the charismatic gay character Captain Jack. All seemed to fit with the more intense show and all was good. Female master Missy was brilliant but the rot set in with Whittaker's awful character and terrible storey lines smashing cannon storylines. A quick redemption with the re-introduction of the brilliant Catherine Tate with the equally awesome David Tennant before the appearance of Ncuti Gatwa. Personably he is quite good but the new song-and-dance-violance-free-ultracamp-musical the show has become leaves it utterly unwatchable for me. They should have made a separate spinoff show like Torchwood. I'm out - totally. Seems like most other people are too!
