  • Fabulous world ruined by the clichés...

OK, I'm a woman. And a non-American. And I adore mostly artistic movies, not really the Hollywood blockbusters. So, maybe I'm not the right one to comment on this. Still I have to say, for the sake of the ones who are like me (and I'm sure I'm not alone here) - it's just not THAT good, and it could be much better.

Visually, this movie is really amazing. The world in it is just completely magnificent. From that point of view, this movie will not disappoint anyone and is truly something new and special. On the other hand, since they've put so much effort into trying to make something really revolutionary - I really expected that the scriptwriters would not hold onto every possible existing cliché they could put in a movie. The characters are SO one-dimensional (to begin with the two main characters, the main scientist, the Latino girl, the "jealous guy" and to end with unbelievably the same "army general" figure), the dialogs are hundreds-of-times-seen-before, the development of the story also, not to mention the "the cool American guy who is total newbie and quite stupid does something several generations of native people couldn't do" thing.

I truly expected more from this movie, because I expected at least a bit more of originality in every aspect and not just with the special effects.

Still I have to say - everyone should see it. Most of you will be delighted with the movie and the rest who are like me will at least have a look at the really wonderful fantasy world.

  • Dark and different

I'm generally very hard on TV shows. It's so rare that I really get the desire to follow one through...I'm a fan of movies, and I don't have time to lose on something that actually doesn't end soon :) But, ReGenesis got me! I'm not sure I can fully explain why... Yes, I am science freak. I practically understand everything they're talking about without explanations. However, when I look at it, CSI is for science freaks too, but I could never really fall into it. OK, it's different type of science, but CSI always seemed to me too exaggerated, too artificial.

There's something about ReGenesis... It's dark and mystical, and yet, it brings such fresh and amazing ideas! Combining science of today, and science of future, in such a subtle way. Everything is so well grounded. I must give respect to the science consultant. There are no errors or holes, everything is so logical and so possible. And so real-life dark.

Actors and characters are all great, but my true fascination goes to director. Really fresh approach on light, on time dimension, on camera movements. Excellent job!

All considering... this kept me glued to my chair, I warmly recommend it! :)

  • Emotions... simple as that

I was reading all those horrible reviews here on the IMDb, and I just can't believe it. I simply can't understand all the rage exploding here... OK, I can understand that you think it's not THAT good... but to grade it 1, or 2 out of 10? Come on, face it, it doesn't have anything to do with reality, there are MUCH worse movies than this one out there, both technically and from artistic point of view.

Evrybody is dying to point out how it's "not realistic", how it's "a serious subject"... Well, this movie deals with a serious subject in a different way. It's kinda simple, you don't know if you'd rather laugh or cry, it's childish, she's a stupid depressive indie teenager yes, it has many flaws, yes... but why always look for flaws and seriousness and reality... The hype is cause this movie GAVE something to people, to us, we FELT something...something SO simple, and innocent, and sad, and full of life... Why care about anything else? It's wrong to think that it's pro-life, I don't think it tries to gives a message of any kind, and certainly it's not trying to preach or tells you what to do with your life. It's simply...a little story. Story that came from the bottom of someone's heart, and with a very small budget managed to provoke so much beauty in people... I say, excellent job!
