  • Terrible, TERRIBLE.

I like Kevin Nealon as an actor, I think he's a decent one, but even someone like him can't save the atrocity to television. The show is about the Martin family, an obnoxious family of annoying, tech-savy disgusting-looking clay figures. The father, Glenn Martin (Kevin Nealon), a dentist, decides to tear them away from their materialistic needs in an attempt to make a stronger family, puts them in an RV and takes away their cell phones, gaming consoles, etc. Now, the plot sounds pretty good, I'll admit it HAD potential, but this was advertised as a comedy, but the laughs are missing. The character's personalities are annoying (and they look ugly). The animation is exceptionally bad (Good example: "Moral Orel") and the writing is poor. The jokes are terrible and immature. Honestly, I feel as if I've wasted my time. This attempt at comedy...I haven't seen such a terrible attempt at comedy since Disaster Movie (Yes, I went there). Please, Nick at Nite, go back to running re-runs of 80-90's sitcoms. Do what you do best, and replace Glenn Martin, DDS with a show like...Alf? Actually, I can't picture Alf on N@N, so forget that...

  • A Fun Way to Spend 20 Minutes

Shawn C. Phillips and M.J. Kelley are two rather well know reviewers on youtube who make comedic reviews of films, sometimes beginning with a parody, under the persona Don and Murph. They have gained a fan base on youtube between "The Don and Murph Show!", Shawn's DVD updates and their Around the Town Vlogs. Finally, they made a short film that they released on DVD, which they made many before, but none released on DVD, but now, onto the review of their first release; The Caged Girl?

It stars Shawn C. Phillips as a young college girl, and M.J. Kelley as an obsessed stalker of the girl. Finally, the stalker kidnaps the girl and forces her to treat him like her boyfriend. From there begins a lot of dark humor and the girl trying to escape. It was fun for me to watch, and pretty funny too. They have it released on Youtube if you feel like being cheap. Shawn and M.J. deserve more recognition since, knowing it was along the lines of a no- budget film, it was pretty good and enjoyable and a fun way to kill about 20 minutes. Some scenes here and there felt a bit slow, and there are some other parts that kept it from a higher rating, but still, I enjoyed it. I honestly think the next one they make (which they announced they're planning on making another soon), they should send it into the Tromadance Film Festival since they accept any film without an entry fee. I honestly cannot wait for their next short film, so be sure to make another soon, Shawn and M.J.! If you guys are reading this, there are only two words that describe how I feel; Great job!

  • We're All Dudes!

So, this was a childhood favorite of mine. I wasn't an avid watcher of it, I would just rent the VHS every so often. However, it's been about eight or nine or ten years since. While at BJs Megastore, I spotted the DVD for an extremely low price ($3.99), so I decided to buy it. I re- watched it the same night, and now I appreciate it more. Now, the movie's about Dexter, a punk-like kid played by Kenan Thompson, leaving school to start off his summer, with an exciting one planned. Unfortunately, he hits into his teacher's car and he needs to pay off the debt of the damage on the car of his teacher (Sinbad). So, he is employed at a Good Burger, befriends a laid-back and goofy employee, Ed (played by Kel Mitchell), and from there, hilarity ensues. This movie is a lot of fun, believe it or not, and a REALLY fast way to kill an hour- and-a-half. The jokes are actually VERY funny, and some references that work...work! There was even a reference to Lassie, which is one of my favorite jokes in the movie. Their competition, Mondo Burger, are very unlikeable characters, which they were supposed to be, so they achieved at that. If there's anything I didn't like, it's that the scene in the mental institute seemed to drag on a bit too long, although it did establish that Abe Vigoda's character actually had a reason in the movie, not just another side-character. Also, some acting here and there is lackluster, but it doesn't take away from the movie too much. Also, the DVD contains no special features whatsoever. Although some, most rather, dislike it, claim it's a terrible movie, give it a try. It's a lot of fun, and they actually made a short skit on All That extended and not seem too long and drawn out. Give it a try, you might like it, and even if you don't; Hey, it was cheap!
