This episode was amusing and mildly suspenseful, but Lisa was so out of character, it detracted from the episode. She was extremely disrespectful of Jasper/The Professor, eating leftover spaghetti out of a plastic container, slobbering on his crime scene photos, and yell-speaking with her mouth full (for which he sharply admonishes her). She's over-eager to pin the murder on three different people before the actual murderer is revealed. She's even harsh on the title character with Downs Syndrome and autism. Lisa would never have been unsympathetic or vulgar in her previous character. The actress who portrays the title character was excellent, and I especially appreciated her interactions with The Professor and his mother. The teapot jamboree was marvelous. IMHO, the 2nd-best episode of the first series.

I chose to watch this because it was on Masterpiece/PBS, which seldom disappoints. I was especially excited to see that Trevor Eve, whom I enjoyed from "Waking the Dead", is one of the stars of this show. But I watched the first episode with a completely open mind, not knowing what to expect. I was mystified straight through to the reading of the will and, as with all great mysteries, I am thoroughly hooked. The characters are, for the most part, still unknown and I look forward to their development. The only character that I am pulling for - so far - is the Detective (Inspector), who is refreshingly intuitive. I can't wait to watch the next episode.
