I liked the idea of this film, sounded fun. After the first episode I felt like it deserved a shot, even though the whole ship crash landing felt quite unrealistic and almost absurd I figured, let's suspend disbelief and go with it. It had good elements that if used intelligently could have made for a great show, like the new aliens, I actually really like that concept and they could have done so much with them but it's just... stupid, things just don't seem to add up or make sense, characters act dumb and unnatural and even though this is is set 100 years or so from now (or more) we still have cancer while having more advanced androids than the Alien movies even though its set in advance. Anyway, many things to be said however, the worst thing that cannot be forgiven is the fact that the writers do not understand the alien. Talking and controlling the alien? Plus, seeing the aliens during the day is horrible, the alien is insanely weak sometimes, othertimes it just kills in a very strange pattern, it's just not the alien monster, it's a different creature that looks horrible, I mean at times its just so clear its a guy in a suit. What can I say, its a mess, I tried to give it a chance but it's just too much to bare. I am currently watching the last episode of the season and it's just... terrible, so many missed opportunities... just bad writing.
What a disappointment this was. The first part was kind of ok although I liked none of the characters to be honest, I found them all kind of annoying. The fat zombies were a nice additions, I didn't care much for the alpha - the concept could have worked if done better but I wasn't a fan.
The only interesting character that I actually enjoyed was the doctor, otherwise everyone was either a moron either just an annoying person which was surprising with such good cast.
The whole thing felt like it lacked a plot, and the ending, oh my god what a train wreck, what a caricature...
I had low expectations to begin with because this is a movie made in 2025 after all but it managed to subvert my expectations nonetheless... And I adored the first two movies (especially the first one). It did not feel like the same universe. It's clearly meant to have sequels... but considering how bad this one was, why would you?
