I had to hop on here just to leave this bad review. Terribly written, directed, and acted, in that order. The concept is actually good-- a town made up of wanted outlaws; sounds like a decent Clint Eastwood plot. But the movie is done in by horrible, cheap-looking, redundant shootouts, bad slo-mo choices, bottom-of-the-barrel effects, and ridiculous scenes. I had to stick around to see what happens to Nic Cage. I have enjoyed plenty of his oddball films, because he is so fun even in those, but in this dreck he is simply wasted. Any Lifetime movie C-list actor could have played his character. My guess is his salary was 90% of the budget. I give it two stars instead of one because of the attempt, there are some actors I like, and because a one-star rating should be saved for true garbage, or so-bad-its-good movies.
Saw this for the first time just now. I think when it came out the reviews weren't great, so I skipped it. Anyway, halfway through I became really annoyed at the constant writing tropes. Lazy, predictable stuff you've all heard a hundred times. I knew what was going to happen next, what they were going to say, and who the bad guys were. So why the 5 stars? Because Keanu is so darn likable, and some of the action scenes were well done. On the other hand, the other action scenes were by-the-book, copycat, or boring. David Ayer is far from my favorite director. What you see is what you get with this. 'Training Day' or 'John Wick' it ain't. Stallone or Arnold from the 80s it is.
Once I lifted my jaw off the floor, I knew I had to log in to tell you that THIS...this 'movie'... is the worst movie I've ever seen. And that's saying a lot! I've watched plenty of 'bad' movies on purpose, because they're good for a laugh, or they're bad on purpose. Nope, this is earnest schlock. By the way, I watched this on Amazon Prime. Why the heck am I paying for dreck?? Also, on Amazon it's called 'Journey to the Center of Time', a cool title that caught my eye. I'm a sucker, I guess. The most interesting thing about this for me was getting to see a young Lyle Waggoner. Too bad they couldn't even spell his name right in the credits, lol! The plot, dialogue, directing, acting, special effects, editing, and even the lighting were middle-school- level junk. (I don't know where they stole the score, but it was fine) So bad that MST3000 didn't bother! It makes 'Lost in Space' Season 3 look like high art! Really, truly, do NOT waste your time. You're welcome.
