There are some slower parts, but mostly this film is action, action, and more action. Russell Crowe was still in his prime, still muscular, before he got fat, perhaps he got ripped again just for this role. And the cast is littered with notable actors, one after another after another and very recognizable.
The story is not the usual Robin Hood narrative, so that was interesting and made the movie more of an unfamiliar and fresh adventure.
The downside is that it feels just a bit too long and the last thirty minutes is full of battle sequences that don't mesh with the preceding events, so it makes the ending feel like it's a different film altogether. A lot happens in the last few chapters and the major changes aren't introduced properly, so it leaves the audience behind and befuddled.
Overall, this is an epic Robin Hood movie and some of it is the best of all Robin Hood installments, but in the end, it's not my favorite of the lot. The Kevin Costner version is far superior.

But for the decent technical aspects, this would be torture to watch. The script is slow and the characters are ordinary. The acting is stilted and wooden all around and the direction is the same as with most of these really low-quality amateur Christmas films; which means the pacing is unnatural and the conversations don't flow or entertain. I think this is how it goes when beginners make movies, because they need a lot of luck and a trained production crew to point out the flaws and fix the thing.
My observation is that Hallmark movies are usually a good risk and the others aren't. This is obviously not a Hallmark production.

Not my type of film. I am waiting for a good story to bloom in the midst of all the artsy fartsy stuff. It's about a big movie star and now he's all washed up. So we are stuck watching Sutherland's take on the character who is still snobbish and extremely rude to all of his associates and now he must eat some crow and perform for some English Panto.
I just don't get the point of this movie, it's not comedy it's not romance, what is it? Supposedly, it's a comedy, but the laughs were absent in my house. It just feels out of place.
