Watching the two main characters together was painful. Their attraction to each other just wasn't believable, and led to some awkward scenes. Austen was a good character, though, but even he couldn't make up for how bad the chemistry was. Eva was just plain annoying, sometimes snobbish and mostly unlikable. Her sister was sweet, maybe her character would have been a better fit for Austen.
The story was also quite predictable.
The only redeeming quality this movie had was the scenery. Malta is beautiful. I couldn't finish watching it, so I can't say whether or not I liked how it ended. ******

If it had a bigger budget, better writing, and people who could act. It's a cute (albeit typical) Christmas story, and if you're okay with independent films then you'll get past all that. The dialog and acting were awkward, and there wasn't really any chemistry between the lead characters. It wasn't bad enough that I turned it off though.
The lead actress was cute, but her lines were all stilted and quick. Not sure what kind of acting training she's had, but she needs to work on delivery.
I would have liked to see more of what she was decorating. It looked sparse, and no big reveal on the outside lights and decor at the end. Again, probably because of budget.

What can I say? This episode, beautiful scenery and special effects aside, was a very boring story and an anti-climactic season finally. Not surprising after the horrendous disaster that was Series 11. Please Chris Chibnall, go away, and take your writers and your Doctor with you!
