The conversation in this film create a lot of tension for the viewer since they are painful to listen to. It seems these "humans" are in some starting phase of human development, or perhaps fungus took over their brains. Is this a sequel to Invasion of the Body Snatchers after the pod people won? I don't know but perhaps the point of the film is to create tension -just that, tension. In which case I give it a 10/10. I've used the word tension so many times that I resemble the film.
Tension.
Tension.
I suppose the directors either had narcissistic parents or they're just naturally good at psychology. The films reveals a lot about the demons in the human psych, even depicting demons masquerading as a persons real identity. It's definitely up there with the film 'Where the Wild Things Are.' Every facial gesture, emotion, and sound are never wasted. You'll love this movie if you enjoy Salad Fingers, the game Machinarium, and Planescape Torment, if 'enjoyment' is the right word to use for a such a depressing film.
The film was meticulously done, and all reservations I had about the choice of actors and the dialogue were dispelled as the film carried on. The thing about the film is that it's interesting from beginning to end, and ends up memorable without trying tome. I really wouldn't change anything. Also check out Vivarium, which I enjoy equally as much.
I want to add that I don't trust movie reviews anymore, I just watch stuff randomly now. Good movies are dismissed, and empty films are highly rated. Typically in the category of horror you can expect a 1-3 point decrease in ratings.
