For all those people who are saying Anthony Mackie's performance was wooden...did we forget this is a Marvel movie? An action movie? There is a certain style that actors follow. If you want range, watch a drama.
This movie was fun to watch. The storyline may go over the head of some, so perhaps it could have been a plot more digestible. But I certainly got the message.
The main conflict is that Captain America not necessarily agreeing with the government, however, wanting to do the right thing for his country in the bigger picture. I am not sure when the script was written, but it really does resonate with the times now.
Take some of these harsh reviews as a grain of salt, you just have to watch for yourself.

Black gangs, white suits. Sex in the first Scene. All of these cliches bore me. The actor with the dark skin is the gang kingpin and the guy with the white collar money is indeed, white.
Perhaps I'm just tired is seeing this over and over again, which perpetrates racism in our society. I suppose the bigger issue more about how a script like this gets greenlit over more original content that tells a different story. However, this is pre-BLM.
The premise was interesting, and after I watched the first two episodes - I got the point.

The culture is on point, and I get a lot of laughs. It's great to see black women as the main - so refreshing - although what would be more refreshing and powerful is to see black women rock their natural hair. The wigs are dialing the black girl magic a little down.
But the production is great, and I enjoy the dynamics of the characters.
