  • Impressive work from Atkins

I've been a long time fan of Ron Atkins. His films are consistently creative, intense, demanding and filled with a grimy originality. I'm just surprised that so little is written about him in a genre desperate for something this unique and daring! Having recently watched Mutilation Mile, I hope things will change for him in 2011. It's without doubt one of the best films I've seen in a long time, and despite a small budget, had an impact that had me reeling long after the viewing.

The characterisation of Jimmy & Jack DeGrasso is impressive - anti-hero's every bit as repulsive yet compulsive as Harry Russo in Atkin's earlier works Schizophreniac and Necromaniac. Daniel McCabe and Lawrence Buchér do a fine job of maintaining a high intensity level, with a genuine sense of menace.

What came as a refreshing shock was the amount of laugh out loud moments in Mutilation Mile… McCabe in particular showcasing a real talent for timing and lunacy. I recently re-watched the DVD with friends and had to play back several scenes, just to hear the little skits or outlandish things that McCabe would come out with.

Atkins is just as dangerous a director as ever. Fans new and old will be thrilled by this latest offering. Brutal, direct, clear direction and fearless story telling.

Fans of horror, extreme cinema and just plain simple talented film making will be in for a real treat. He's yet to make a dud, so here's hoping more people check him out and discover exactly how talented this maniac really is.

  • Chainsaw Sally is fantastic!!

Can't say how much I loved this show. I've watched the DVD of series 1 countless times already, so much so that I went and bought everything I could find online, including the earlier film and even a musical.

Check out the Chainsaw Sally website for plenty of cast info, DVD releases and photos etc.

Troma have finally picked up on the show, having decided to re-release season 1 with lots of new extras. Can not wait until Series 2 is released. It's being shot as I write.

Clever story lines, sharp direction, lots of laughs, lots of in-jokes and plenty of references to keep horror fans on their toes... silly, shocking, sexy and jammed full with originality.

Way to go JimmyO and April, Chainsaw Sally rocks!!

  • Loved this!!!

It's easy to forget while you're watching "Easter Bunny, Kill! Kill!" that this is not an authentic 70's slasher, grindhouse, exploitation flick. All of the elements are there, the angry psycho, the blaxploitation nurse, prostitutes, illegal immigrants, an unbalanced mother, the odd paedophile and a mentally handicapped teenager with a passionate devotion to his rabbit.

There's also a good level of gore thanks to an assortment of house hold power tools and the twisted storyline certainly keeps your attention throughout. Add in the fact that the slasher wears a cool Easter bunny mask, and you've got a film that is well paced and hard to dislike.

Some of the gore is pretty in your face, and let's be honest some of the scenes are pretty hard to take (Poor Nicholas!) but the film is filled with some great sleazy dialogue, the odd twist and turns and is frequently disturbing. Genuinely a fantastic watch! I'd strongly recommend you check this one out. Get your friends around, crack open a beer and watch this with an open mind. Chad Ferrin and his perverse, twisted view of the world is certain to appeal to fans of horror, cult or just the plain weird.

    I'm totally in!
