The first season of From was good, or perhaps even very good. The series was refreshingly different and quite creepy at times. From is certainly innovative. Imagine ending up somewhere where you can't go outside after sunset. You can't find your way home and you have no idea what's going on. The acting isn't bad, although that doesn't apply to everyone in the series, but it's generally solid. After the second season, however, From starts to feel a bit like a soap opera. The novelty wears off, and the suspense diminishes. Let's hope that season four will be as strong as the first.
While the first film about the Scandinavian trolls was original and at times entertaining and even exciting, Troll 2 quickly became tedious. The story is predictable, so you already know how it will end from the start. It's a battle between good trolls and evil trolls, and that quickly becomes tedious. Characters are barely developed, if at all, making the film feel rather flat. Furthermore, film-watching audiences are often less impressed by fantasy films that make extensive use of CGI (computer-generated images).
For a fantasy film to work, it has to be truly well-made, and that's not the case with Troll 2. It's a shame, because it could have been so much more.

Claire Danes may be a good actress, but she does repeat her acting often. In her previous roles in Homeland, she essentially played the same role as she does now in The Beast Within. A nearly constant dramatic expression, teary-eyed and desperate, is how she manifests herself in this otherwise excellent drama. The script is good, the acting is solid, but Claire, oh, she exaggerates so often and so much that it almost becomes a comedy. Claire is hysterical, which is a shame because the series has real potential. A different actor for Claire Danes could help.
The cast, the script, the acting-everything in this series is perfect. From the very first episode, you're drawn into Gleeson's personal life. The grumpy, surly retired detective who drinks too much and refuses to be seduced by his neighbor plays his role with brilliant restraint. But it's not just Gleeson who's fantastic, but also the fussy manager who patronizes his staff, and of course, Mr. Mercedes himself. The series certainly rivals Braking Bad and Better Call Saul. A solid 10.
A weak script with strong actors who all try their best but simply fail to convince. The script feels unfinished and clumsy. The story focuses solely on the main issue and virtually avoids the personal affairs of the main characters. And it's precisely the blend of personal life and the main storyline that makes a series or film good. Good try, but the series becomes boring after a few episodes. It's a shame it could have been so much more.
The acting may be good in this film, but it's otherwise soporific and boring. Nothing much happens, and you might as well be watching an old Columbo episode, although Columbo would have been a bit more exciting. "Knives Out" is a film that didn't need to be made; I certainly fell asleep watching it.
A messy story forces good actors to do their best to make something of it, but unfortunately, even that fails. The script jumps from one event to the next, leaving the viewer at times confused. One moment the main characters are in England, the next in Flanders, and then back in Normandy-it's dizzying. The most messy, unclear series I've ever seen.
A series that starts well with excellent actors and, at least that's what it seems like at first, a great story. The pity is that the series gets bogged down in an eternal internal struggle between family members, who apparently can't stand each other. Kevin Coster plays a great role but often walks around the set looking angry, which means that as a viewer you are quickly drawn into the bad mood of Pa Dutton. The fact that the Dutton family is not portrayed as a good law-abiding family ensures that it is in any case not a good feel good show, but that's all that can be said about it. After two seasons I had seen enough.
This is a typical film that should not have been made. The story that may have happened is not interesting for a moment. The scenes are sloppily tied together where there is hardly a story to discover. Apart from the fact that I do not understand mountain climbers, this is the worst film I have ever seen about the subject. The story is incoherent and the actors do not seem to be interested. I watched it for half an hour and then I knew, not worth it. It remains a shame that there are film makers who are not able to film this kind of subject better. In a word, a soporific, sloppy work, a waste of my time.
This is almost the worst Alien movie ever. The worst Alien movie was of course part four but this one comes very close. The plot is as unoriginal as it gets. A group of bored teenagers want to go to a sunny alien paradise and end up on a space station where, guess what, the creepy crawlies are present in abundance to ruin the atmosphere. Some seeds are planted here and there which makes it extremely dangerous on the crashing space station. The actors do their best but can't save the movie. The references to previous alien movies are shockingly stolen. Everything is really bad about this movie. I give it a four for the effort.
Yet another detective with so-called special people investigating special conspiracy cases. Not a single episode can be called original. The actors generally don't seem to be interested and come across as bored. Well, we have to have a role in a series or film so go ahead, but preferably not this, that's what the actors seem to think. The scenes are boring and predictable just like the story. The script is hopelessly average and never captivates. Despite Plummer's role, the series fails to create anything special. Too bad about all the wasted energy that has been put into the series, honestly very bad.
After two seasons of shameless watching, it's enough. The first season was fun and daringly different, but then boredom sets in. Sex scenes that are not sex scenes and a nasty politically correct undertone make the series hopelessly predictable. Dad is drunk and unbearable every episode and the caring daughter keeps letting the annoying father in. Two seasons of Shameless would have been enough. And then there is the eternally crying baby with Down syndrome that everyone continues to find cuddly, yes, secretly the series must continue to indicate that everyone can participate. In fact, shameless isn't really shameless anywhere.
Totenfrau is a worthwhile series, but why so many strange mistakes in such a series? In the first episode, a Ducati is hit at high speed, killing the rider. The car, which would normally have been badly damaged by a collision with a motorcycle weighing more than 200 kilos, drives away as if nothing had happened. The motorcycle can be repaired and will be picked up by the victim's wife. We see the woman in her fashionable tweed jacket, which flutters open in the wind, without gloves on, riding off on the Ducati through a snowy landscape. Normally, as a motorcyclist, you stop in this situation after 5 kilometers because your fingers are frozen off and your throat is swollen. Otherwise reasonable series.
That top actors like Glen Close, William Hurt and Ted Danson can't make a good series yet proves damages. The camera work is poor and the direction is hopeless, which makes the actors seem to struggle with their roles. 5 stars is the absolute maximum.
In startup it is the few good actors that make the series bearable enough to watch, but most of the actors are probably recruited from the cirucus. In scenes where people can talk at a normal level, they yell at each other while it seems that the actors are busy with completely different things. The story is illogical and the script is full of holes. no more than five stars.
From the first season is enjoying the fantastic story and the more than excellent actors. Everything is right in this series and everyone shines as an actor. Sometimes Ozark seems better than Breaking Bad, which is actually impossible.
Casa de papel is the most tedious boring series I have seen so far. The story rattles on all sides, the dialogues are uninteresting and unnecessary and the actor talent just isn't there. It is therefore a mystery to me why the story of Casa de papel should be spread over 4 seasons. Deserves no more than 4 stars.
Never seen anything as stupid as this series, nothing really fits in this series. A suspect is interrogated in the office of two detectives and then first abused by one and then strangled by the other. Because an unrealistic amateurish story.
Hellboy was clearly less funny and less imaginative than the earlier films with Ron Perlham.
