I loved this movie. It is mainly set in Venice, Italy, and you get the feel of the place. It's almost like a travel log combined with cooking show. The chemistry between the two leads is natural and it's easy to just get lost in the acting and scenery and forget it's a movie. In fact, it felt more like a mini series and at the end I was hoping that there was another 5 episode and even another series to come. Alas it ended too soon with a few unanswered questions and it could easily have run for another 30 minutes without getting boring. I have been lucky enough to visit Venice many times, and this movie just makes me return.
I rate Xmas movies on a different scale to normal movies because they are a special type of movie, not to be taken too seriously but to entertain. Often the blurb or title tells you everything you need to know, but sometimes there are plot twists which keep you guessing and entertained throughout. This is one of those movies. It was barely a Christmas movie, except for the tree in the background, but the feel was there and the subject was different from the usual type, with two strong leads with a good chemistry between them. The plot was based around a wedding planner arranging a wedding for her best friend and there being some doubt about the potential groom. It wasn't as predictable as that sounds and there are plenty of twists and turns, will they won't they moments, and although the ending was a bit cheesy with extra cheese on top, it at least concluded to a satisfying ending, unlike some movies of this type which seem to end abruptly. I gave it full marks because it entertained me, kept me involved and had the feel good factor we all want from this type of movie. Not to everyone's taste obviously going by the negative reviews, but I would watch it again next year to enjoy it all again.
