This film is better than it should be. Poignant look at trauma and what it does to friendships and marriages etc. It's "woke" in a genuine way that doesn't seem forced (like in And Just Like That). Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin are always brilliant together. I really enjoyed this film and it's storyline.
The trailer to this movie had me scratching my head like seriously? A CGI monkey? They can't be serious? Well, I am a professional musician and a musical theater enthusiast, so I gave it a go. Wow! I was not expecting THAT. While the CGI monkey is off putting in the beginning, I soon forgot he was a monkey and embraced him being Robbie Williams. The music is fantastic of course, and the dancing (especially the duet between Robbie and Nicole) were brilliantly choreographed. More importantly, the story was brutally honest. It doesn't try to paint a magical fairytale ideal. It tells the truth. It was a beautiful film that I highly reccomend to any music lover.
Why are there three of these? It is just three long boring movies which show a really toxic relationship, like we've all been in when we were in our early 20s. Who wants to watch that? It's repetitive and dumb.
