A sweet love story that exceeded my expectations compared to a dozen plus other Christmas rom-coms. It charms with it's cheasy and witty lines, and a relevant message hidden within the plot. This could become a classic in my home Christmas collection.
Not much of a Kutcher fan here, so obviously my expectations for this movie were quite low to begin with. I have to admit I was a little surprised to find that I actually enjoyed the plot and that it's apparently more than just nudity, once you get underneath that layer. Ironically one of those movies that make you rethink parts of your own life, and what really matters. I am a sucker for happy, sappy endings, but in its own way I think this ended perfectly.
This movie captures the essence of Hollywood; the old "American dream"-vibe crossed with classic old dance movies. It's colorful, picturesque and the overall cinematography is spectacular with some knock-out sequences rarely seen in today's films. The casting for the main characters is nothing but perfect - Gosling and Stone's chemistry is gripping, trustworthy and as strong as it has ever been - they're like a match made in heaven for the screen. The epilogue sequence is a genius touch to the plot - I love how it makes people wonder and add question marks. On top of that, everything mentioned above gets wrapped up in this amazing, jazzy musical score and soundtrack. I have nothing to put my finger on - the only wish I have about this movie is that I wish I had watched it in the cinema when it came out, because it deserves to be seen on a big screen. There's nothing not to love about this movie. This will be one of those I will watch over and over and never get tired of.
